I said yes when Katherine J. Barrett, editor Understorey Magazine, contacted me about featuring "Rooted" with one of the short stories published in its first edition. Here is the link to "On My Dining Room Table" written by Sylvia D. Hamilton. I think the art complements the story.....enjoy. Dancing With Trees - Swoon Fine Art Gallery opening on Saturday, November 9th at 2pm. My small childhood home was canopied by a gigantic backyard elm tree. The sun shining behind its leaves through my bedroom window left a deep impression. It had a life of its own, always dancing and changing with the wind and weather. This exhibit is all about my deep desire to anthropomorphize trees, (we all do it) and to share these expressions of art with the viewer. “Tangled Up in You” is about new love and a first dance, do you remember how it made you tremble. “Dancing After Midnight” connotes the sensual moonlit hours when nocturnal escapades are not seen with clarity. “Anniversary Waltz” speaks of soul mates, a little worn out and rusted but the heart and soul connection is the “key” to a long relationship. Another key in the painting is about the lustful connections of youth. “Tree-O” is pure exhilaration and a joyous hallelujah…..while “Gnarly Pine” is flippin you the bird! Every tree painting tells a story.......my story, perhaps your story. Andrea Pottyondy |
